These bricks were not a part of the Great Northern Railway depot in Alpine, Washington, but they are located at the site of that depot. The bricks in the photo are may be from a railroad track welding operation, but there are other bricks at the site which may well be from the Great Northern depot. It was from this depot, then called Nippon and renamed Alpine in 1914, on March 1, 1910 that James O'Neill sent the telegram that notified Great Northern management, and the world, of the tragedy of the Wellington avalanche which took at least 96 lives.
