The pipe that carried water from the dams at Alpine to the town, the mill, the fire hydrants, and the railroad, was made of wood wrapped in wire. Bill Carter found an intact section of pipe in the woods east of Carroll Creek in May 2010. This is a section of pipe west of Carroll Creek. The wood has rotted away, but the wire remains.
