This is the foundation of a 60,000 gallon water tank built by the Great Northern Railway in 1927. The structure is no more than 50 feet from the current Burlington Northern Sante Fe railroad tracks. In my visits to Alpine I had walked by it at least twice without seeing it. Matt Cawby found it in May 2011 after carefully reading a 1927 blueprint map from the Great Northern archives in St Paul, MN.
